In Class 4 we will be studying the following this term:

Maths: A focus on place value and number, including the four operations, decimals and fractions. We will be working hard on mental maths skills through our new Maths Passport, and problem solving skills. The children will be constantly pushed to articulate and justify their reasoning, including considering which strategies suit particular problems.

English: Grammar, punctuation and spelling will form an important part of our learning this term, with plenty of opportunities for the children to apply their learning in independent writing tasks. Our first genre unit is looking at classic fiction, using The Jungle Book to explore different writing styles.

Science: Electricity. Led by Mrs Brosch, The children will be investigating circuits and designing their own switches and inventions.

Our topic for the term is Disaster! Volcanoes and earthquakes will form the basis for our Geography, History, Art and Computing. In November we will be visiting @Bristol for a Science-themed day learning about our planet.

In PE we are delighted to welcome back George every Friday, who will be coaching netball skills, and Jake from Gloucester Rugby, leading a six-week Tag Rugby unit. PE will be every Wednesday and Friday: please encourage your child to make sure they have the required kit, including suitable footwear.

In RE we will be learning about Judaism, including finding out about the life of Moses and various Jewish festivals and traditions.
