Happy September! The return to school has gone well, the children are settled and up for the challenge of a new school year.
New year, new name: Godolphin class is how we will be referred to from now on, after a GWA Bulldog class locomotive (no.3346) that used to serve the South West. The Godolphin was built in 1900 and withdrawn from service 34 years later.
We started our topic for the new term: Mexico and the Mayans, with a fantastic foody day of making salsa and guacamole, as well as Mexican flag-coloured headbands and a large class flag.
Our new Read Write Inc Spellings programme will begin in earnest next week, involving 15 minutes at the start of every Monday-Thursday. Spelling Log Books will begin to make their way home next week, along with further guidance as to homework expectations too.
On Wednesday, we enjoyed the first of a five-week block of rugby coaching sessions with a Gloucester Rugby
community coach and we have enjoyed having Tom, our regular sports coach back on Fridays from today.
Please remember that every child should bring in their book bag, reading book and reading record and a water bottle every day. PE kits should be brought in on Mondays and returned home for washing every Friday.
Godolphin’s PE days are currently Wednesday and Friday, but PE kit should be available in school all week.
Best Wishes, Mr Hunt
