Every parent of a child at St Andrew's is an important member of the PTA. The PTA aims to help the school and our children, primarily by providing additional resources outside of the normal school budget. This is done by organising various social events, where the wider school community can come together, get to know each other, have a good time and hopefully make some money!
Like all PTAs, we rely on Parents' support and are very grateful to the many people who give up their time to help organise and run these many and varied events. We are always looking for fresh ideas and additional help. Please contact us via the school web site, call in at the office or contact any member of the school community.
At our September PTA meeting, it was agreed we would focus our fund raising towards renovating the school library.
“Around the school, an attractive and well-stocked library is often an indicator of effective support for pupils’ wider reading and information retrieval skills.” Ofsted (2011)
A lively, welcoming and well resourced school library gives pupils positive experiences of books, computers and other media. It shares the ethos and values of the whole school, is an effective and economical shared resource and a centre for learning and literacy development. IT is an integral part of this learning environment.
The school library should promote equality, diversity and inclusion. Its role is to help create confident, enthusiastic readers and engage children in life-long learning. There is a clear link between the quality of a school’s library and the general well-being of the pupils and their literacy levels.
I hope you will all support us at events and join in with fund raising for our children’s library renovation.
DATES FOR YOUR DIARY:
28th February - Pancake race @2pm for £1pp. Bring your own frying pan if you can please.
10th March - Film night @3-4.45pm for £2.50pp. Popcorn and drink inc. After school club children can join in at 4pm for £1pp.
24th March - Red nose day cake sale and refreshments for 50p-£1.
7th April - Non Uniform Day for £1pp.
8th to 22nd April - Easter logo treasure hunt. Buy a treasure map and instructions to find the hidden logos in Chedworth.
15th May - Coins around the school. Donate your pocket change and come see how far it reaches around the school!
24th June - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED to provide tea/coffee & cake to Chedworth Open Gardens @ the village hall 2-5pm.
1st July - School Summer Fete. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. There will be a BBQ & Pimms/beer bar, lollies, refreshments, cake stall, external displays and stalls, face painting, bouncy castle, games, races, art competition/prize, tombola, photo booth, tuck shop, etc.
2nd July - The Cotswold School car parking rota. 8 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. Please spare 1 hour to help direct cars and take cash from approx 9.30am-1.30pm.
14th July - Sport day. PTA will be selling refreshments & ice lollies.
20th July - Summer play. The PTA will be selling ice lollies, refreshments and have a Pimms, wine & beer bar.
26th August - The Chedworth Show. The PTA are hosting an after show evening party. There will be music, a hog roast and bar. Please come join us and/or VOLUNTEER to help make this fun and successful. Tickets on sale soon...
Everyone is welcome to attend PTA meetings and informal team planning meetings. We welcome ideas and assistance :-)
