Rowan Class

Rowan class is a mixed Year 3 and Year 4 class, currently taught by Mr L Gingell.
In Year 3 and 4, pupils learn a musical instrument such as guitar, drums and brass instruments. During the Autumn term, pupils will also undertake swimming lessons to ensure they can safely swim by the end of Year 6.
At the end of Year 4, pupils will undertake the multiplication tables check (MTC). This assessment was new in the academic year 2021-2022. Children sit this test on either an ipad or laptop and they have 6 seconds to answer 25 multiplication questions. The results from this are shared in the summer report.
To prepare for this, children have daily maths fluency sessions (which focus on patterns, number bonds, multiplication and division questions). As well as this, each child is on a maths passport, they will have a home and a school copy so that we can give children ample opportunity to recall key facts that will support them in their reasoning and problem solving.
