Physical Education
At St Andrew's, we understand the key role that physical health, exercise and sporting achievement plays in a child's emotional well-being and confidence. We enjoy working with a specialist sports coach during our PE lessons every Friday (Years 1-6) to practise and develop our sporting techniques and learn new skills, strategies and tactics. During a school week, we aim to provide every child with a minimum of two hours timetabled PE. We enjoy productive links with Gloucester Rugby, Hill and Valley Tennis club, Cotswold Gymnastics and Bourton Runners amongst other local clubs.
In recognition of our efforts in encouraging children to participate in and enjoy physical activity, we are very proud to have received the School Games Gold kitemark again this year. Find out more about the School Games here.
We are delighted to offer a wide range of extra-curricular sports clubs, including Gymnastics (with the brilliant Rachel, former Head Coach of Cotswolds Gymnastics Club), running (in partnership with Bourton Runners), cricket, netball and both mixed- and girls' football.
Competitive sport is important in promoting team-work, building communication and leadership skills and encouraging self-esteem and confidence. We are proud to participate in many, varied inter-school competitions.
